What is General waste disposal and recycling?
General waste is not easily recycled or reused. At Kenny Waste Management, we have built a state-of-the-art facility that processes and sorts this waste into materials that can be recycled or reused. If anything remains this is used as RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel), which is converted to energy such as electricity.
There are many types of general waste, however, the most common ones that we are all familiar with are packaging and plastics. It is highly likely that a business’s main waste product would fall under this category, therefore commercial waste collection is a key component of our waste management services.

WHAT ABOUT RECYCLING?
Many general waste products can be recycled however they are often mixed with non-recyclable items. When we receive this type of waste, we ensure it is separated to determine what be reused or recycled.
This means that the minimum amount is sent to RDF and we can continue to maintain our divert from landfill promise of sending less than 1% of waste to this area. We only send waste to landfill as a last resort.
There are also many items which should not be placed in a general waste bin as they can be easily recycled, for example, paper and cardboard as these should be placed in a recycling bin.
As well as common recyclable materials, hazardous waste should also not be placed in a general waste bin. These can include chemical substances, batteries, and paint and it is important that these are still managed carefully.
