The Walk of Hope in aid of The Christie

On Saturday, 21st September, Amanda Reid, PA & Office Manager, joined 400 people at Tatton Park to take part in The Walk of Hope in aid of The Christie.  Expecting a nice stroll through the country park she was rather surprised to find that it was in fact 10k!

However, not only was it a beautiful day but it started with a very poignant moment when someone spoke about their Prostate Cancer diagnosis earlier this year and through the amazing treatment and support of  The Christie, he was now cancer free and taking part in the walk.  Another speaker brought tears to many attendees as she described the terminal brain cancer her 5 year old daughter had been diagnosed with.  However, she spoke with love and passion when talking about the amazing staff at The Christie and the wonderful treatment her daughter is receiving.  She then released 2 white doves.

At 5pm all walkers set off for what was a beautiful walk and they soon created a very odd looking blue t-shirted walking train, meandering through the park.  Amanda finished around 2hrs later and has decided that she enjoyed it so much that she may look into country walks for a regular excursion.  All walkers were presented with a medal, and she raised £141.25 for our brilliant corporate charity, The Christie.
