Kenny Waste Management Social Enterprise has a firm commitment to providing opportunities that help young people to discover their potential and find a future direction for their career.
Through the framework of Operation Basecamp, one of our three signature programmes dedicated to breaking down barriers to employment, we aim to inform, inspire, and raise aspirations for those who face the challenge of entering the workforce.
Over the years, we have built a strong relationship with The Manchester College, offering work experience placements to help their students develop skills and confidence. For instance, we recently led a very successful 5-day work experience programme for Level 2 Marketing students at the college.
In recognition of the value these experiences provide, improving work-readiness and developing necessary industry skills in their students, The Manchester College have awarded us their prestigious Gold IEP Award.
“I did a week’s work placement for Kenny Waste Management, and it was a really good experience that I will always remember. At first, I didn’t have the confidence to present in front of so many people but now I have overcome it and now I also know how to talk in a professional way.”
– Amna, Participant and Learner at The Manchester College
“It was wonderful to see my learners progress throughout the week and watch their confidence soar. I have no doubt that every student benefitted greatly from taking part in the week-long work placement and I know every one of them enjoyed the experience.”
– Ellie Mitchell, Business Tutor at The Manchester College
Our own Social Enterprise Manager, Alex Mayes, made the following statement:
“Many thanks to the team at The Manchester College. We are very pleased to accept this award, which we take as a promising sign that the work we are doing to help young people discover their potential is having the desired impact. It’s encouraging to receive such positive feedback; we are eager to continue our work together and help inspire the next generation.”
